Dr Magda Guzowski is a highly experienced consultant eye surgeon, specialising in comprehensive Ophthalmology and cataract surgery.
A medical graduate of the University of New South Wales, Magda went onto work at St George and St Vincent’s Hospital before undertaking specialist training in Ophthalmology with Sydney Eye Hospital. She has also obtained a Masters in Public Health from the University of New South Wales.
Magda’s fascination with Ophthalmology and public health stems from the earliest age, influenced by a medical family. She was awarded the prestigious Clancey-Donald Fellowship by Westmead Hospital, whilst undertaking public health work with Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. Magda later experienced first-hand the life changing effects of eye surgery through her work with disadvantaged people in the Pacific, Nepal and Burma.
Alongside clinical Ophthalmology, Magda is a respected academic in her field. She is a regular attendee and presenter at national and international conferences and seminars, and has seen her work published in peer-reviewed journals, such as the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology, and Clinical Experimental Ophthalmology.
Magda is a consultant ophthalmologist at the Concord General Repatriation Hospital, where she supervises registrars in clinic and operating theatres, training them in the medical and surgical management of ophthalmic disease. She is an anatomy examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), and also teaches junior doctors and medical students as a Clinical Associate Lecturer for the University of Sydney.
